I Support The Hands On Project
Dear friends, family, makers, collectors and textile enthusiasts:
We have started a fundraiser on GoFundMe and it would mean so much to us if you could take a look at it.
If you can contribute, we really appreciate any amount, if you cannot now, please share and come back if you can.
The Hands On Project creates hands-on, culturally rooted learning experiences for youth through textile arts. We empower young people to explore creativity, connect with global traditions, and engage in meaningful, tactile learning that fosters cultural awareness and self-expression.
The Hands On Project aims to ensure ancient traditions in textile arts and crafts continue to exist and thrive into the future. With this mission we reach to school-aged children in their own communities to bring the knowledge and the practice of our ancestors, while providing a safe, inclusive and creative space.
Our mission can be described with three keywords:
EDUCATE, engaging our younger generations in work that is meaningful and inspirational
PRESERVE bringing back ancient ways into today's life with practical applications
CONNECT creating moments to share and collaborate through creation
We have already hosted free workshops with kids ages 7 to 12 and have witnessed how engaged and focused they can become while working
on the project at hand with their families and peers, expressing their own ideas utilizing the techniques we teach them.
The work they have produced is simply amazing, and they get to wear it!
We NOW need your help with the cost of legal fees and -most importantly- with completing the first batch of working KITs,
each one includes all materials needed to work on a wearable piece using sustainably made materials that represent the traditional techniques.
The KITs, the workshops and your contributions will be the main source of funding going forward!
Any help, like donating or sharing, gets us closer to our goal.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and support :))
